This summer, students from DSU, Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and the Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) in China gathered for the “International Design Workshop” held from July 9 to 12 in the International College Building of DSU.

A total of 33 students participated, with 10 students from DSU, 20 students from Monash University, and 3 from SUES.

The students were split into 5 teams of 6 or 7 students.

The event consisted of two design workshops. For the first, Professor Kim Gyeong-won of DSU taught students about ‘The Voice of Typography.’

For the second, the workshop was held under the theme of ‘Our Stories in Busan,’ taught by Professor Hwang In-dae of Monash University.

Finally, with the support of the Confucius Institute, a ‘Chinese Knot Workshop’ was held to help participants experience Chinese culture.

In addition to the workshops, participating students toured the DSU Centum Campus, and experienced many of Busan’s cultural, historical, and tourist attractions first-hand, including Haeundae Beach.

The next International Design Workshop, under the theme of the ‘Melbourne & Sydney Design Field Trip,’ will be held in Australia in January 2020.
