Graduation works by senior student teams from the Film and Animation Department and Video VFX have achieved the feat of bringing home the Grand Prize, Best Excellence Prize, Excellence Prize, and Encouragement Prize from the Daejeon Visual Art-Tech Competition for the second consecutive year.

The competition at the Daejeon Visual Art-Tech Festival, held from October 16 to 17, is an event in which works that can contribute to the further development of the visual effects field are selected, and helps discover, highlight, and give exposure to talented artists.

The competition is Korea's largest in the field of VFX, with the final awards being determined through 30 percent online voting and 70 percent expert judging review.

The Grand Prize and 3 million won were awarded to The Train of Life by DSU Film and Animation Department students Choi Yeongjin (team leader), Gwak Yae-rin, and Kim Da-som; the Best Excellence Prize and 2 million won to First Setup by Lee Dong-yeop (team leader), Kim Yeong-seok, Oh Mi-na, Choi Jun-yeong, and Lee Min-gyu; the Excellence Prize and 1 million won to Evil by Kim Ga-hyeon (team-leader), An Su-yeon, and Jeong Lee-sul; and the Encouragement Prize and 500,000 won to Absence by Min Cheong-shik (team leader), Lee Jae-seong, Kim Dong-hyeon, and Song Geon-hee.

All the winning works are the result of a class conducted at the Department of Film and Animation using the LINC+ Project Team's modular Capstone Design support program.

Professor Kim Shi-hyeon, in charge of guiding the students from the start of the production processes through to their final submissions into the competition, said the news that the students teams had once again swept through all the prizes in a competition against both amateurs as well as visual effects experts, “demonstrates that the learning space of DSU video animation clearly delivers a high-quality, practical education in the field.”
