Following the initial recruitment stage of the '2020 Early Start-up Package,' DSU announced that it will recruit additional start-ups in order to discover further excellent entrepreneurs with promising start-up items and advanced technologies.

The 2020 Early Start-up Package, managed by the Ministry of SMEs & Start-ups (MSS), has grown through the involvement of universities with excellent start-up support capabilities to produce prototypes of early, advanced-technology start-ups.

In particular, it supports attracting investment and developing markets for their products and services.

In the first half of 2020, DSU has already selected to support of the commercialization of 19 start-ups nationwide and is also operating various additional programs.

In the second recruitment period held from August 21 to September 14, selected initial start-up companies would receive support up to 100 million won for project expenses for a total of 7 months.

Dongseo University, leading the spread of university-initiated entrepreneurship culture, was selected as the host of an initial start-up package support project by the MSS for 3 years from 2020, with about 7.5 billion won in financial support to be granted during that period.

In addition, DSU was selected by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science & ICT as a laboratory start-up leading-university business, receiving approximately 3 billion won in support for the 3 year period, and also as a maker-space establishment and operation project by the MSS to the tune of about 800 million won in support for 5 years.

These were in acknowledgement and continued support of DSU’s status as one of the few tertiary institutions that has completed a full cycle as a startup support platform that connects the results of startup education from university settings to actual start-up businesses.

Moreover, in order to quickly respond to the online environment promoted by the government due to countermeasures against the COVID-19 pandemic, DSU is supporting start-up companies through the 'Untact Video Conferencing Platform.'

Based on this, specialized programs such as all-set consulting, LEGO start-up company support platforms, and practical start-up training are provided, focusing on detailed strategies based on DSU’s core strategies of ‘Initial Start-up Support Platform’ and ‘Dongseo Angel Investment Funding.’

Other specialized programs such as practical start-up education and Dream-E-Valley centered offerings are also provided.

Dongseo Business Start-up Project Director Jeong Deo-woon, said “Through DSU’s full-cycle start-up support platform, we will continue to strive to support and nurture promising entrepreneurs to lead successful entrepreneurship. We will also continue to work as a base for revitalizing local entrepreneurship and supporting growth through untact support programs during these difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
