On September 22, 2020, a successful K-Girls’ Day event was held at DSU.

First started in Germany in 2001, and also held in Korea from 2014, K-Girls’ Day is a global annual event for cultivating R&D talent among women.

Specifically, it is a technology experience and industry awareness program for girls and women attending middle schools, high schools, and universities held at various tech companies, universities, and research institutes.

Organized in Korea by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, it is supported by Money Today.

Of special note about this year’s event, all activities were conducted online in order to meet untact requirements for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Despite the changed circumstances, a great deal was gained by participants through watching the various Vlog video institutional experiences, as well though the conducting of combined real-time online and on-site mentoring.

Held at DSU Anymotion and headed by Professor Jo Sung-woo, special attention was paid to motion capture in games, animations, and movies using virtual augmented reality technology, a next-generation field that is attracting particular attention in the untact era.

Of special note, a program to experience the applied process was conducted, which, after recognizing motion capture using the Rokoko program, the process of checking one's movement on the screen in real-time by linking with the game engine Unreal4 was included in the experience Vlog video.

Followed by an online mentoring session, student questions ranging from the finer points of technological principles to queries about the vision and future prospects of the virtual reality industry enabled mentors to get a glimpse of the wide diversity of students’ thoughts and reactions.

Anymotion mentor Park Da-som, said, “I was very happy to be able to showcase a variety of occupation opportunities. While female students can have relative difficulties in approaching these, I am confident that the experiences gained in this event will give them the skills and confidence to pursue their future career paths.” She added, “I look forward to continuing to support the future activities of female science and engineering talent at DSU.”

Among the various 26 companies, research institutes, and universities that participated in this 2020 K-girls' Day nationwide, DSU Anymotion was the only event held in Busan.

Furthermore, in recognition of its efforts made to cultivate female talent in industrial technology, Anymotion has been further selected as a 3-stage allied school enterprise support project, supported by the Ministry of Education and the and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.
